Sperry Marine has many years of experience in providing Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) to military and commercial customers. In addition to preparation of logistics data items and reports in response to customer requirements, Sperry Marine has a worldwide repair and customer support organization. Operator and maintenance training courses are available as required and can be conducted at either our Charlottesville, Virginia location or at customer facilities. Sperry Marine has a full capability for technical manual development and production, and is also an industry leader in the development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and Multimedia Computer-Based Training (CBT) for access via CD-ROM or the Web.
Innovative programs for naval logistical support using Full CLS concepts have been developed and used on other U. S. Navy programs and may provide the best value to the customer for the DDG-51 Class Ship Steering System.
A Full Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) program will shift the responsibility and risk for various system support services from the Navy to the contractor, in a disciplined and reliability-focused environment. This allows the Navy to reduce system life cycle and support costs, improve system reliability and availability, preclude obsolescence, and encourage technology insertion. Full CLS takes advantage of Sperry Marine’s existing capabilities and support infrastructure.
Logistics programs at Sperry Marine are tailored to customer requirements and are an integral part of the design and development process. Identification of equipment levels of repair and support strategies are determined at an early stage and guide the development of design documentation such as drawings, technical manuals, spare parts and periodic maintenance recommendations. Provisioning data for both military and commercial customers are prepared per SDRL requirements and can include fully developed data packages using Navy ICAPS provisioning software or alternatively can provide support to the customer for their development of that data. Sperry Marine support at provisioning conferences can provide product expertise to assure that Allowance Parts Lists include the most comprehensive and cost effective set of repair parts.
